Mold-blown

One technique for controlling the shape and surface pattern of a blown glass object is to inflate the glass into a wooden or metal form. Glass created this way is called mold-blown.

Mold-blown glass was commonly used in early commercial glass production and continues to be used to this day by glass blowers. Oben Abright, the subject of yesterday's GlassFact, creates his wonderful sculptures this way.
