The image to the right is of the glass blowers tool called a "diamond shear". The diamond part of the name refers to the shape of the opening.
The design of the shears allows for cutting with minimal distortion of the glass.
The ends of most diamond shears have a non-sharpened, plier-like opening for grabbing punties, glass and more.
