Harvey K. Littleton

Harvey K. LittletonBorn in Corning, New York in 1922, Harvey Littleton is widely considered the father of the studio glass movement that began in the early 1960's. That movement took glass making from the factory into the artist's own workshop.

Few American artists are as widely collected as Littleton. His work can be found in the collection of almost every major museum (including the Metropolitan Museum of Art and the Smithsonian's Renwick Gallery) and in the White House.

Littleton also pioneered the field of vitreography – the use of glass for lithographic printing plates.

Littleton lives in Spruce Pines, North Carolina.
